Who is eligible for a scholarship in Ireland?

1. International students who have been regular residents outside the EU for at least three years before starting their course are eligible if they are enrolled in a Master’s degree program in any discipline at an accredited university in Ireland.

2. Candidates cannot have previously been awarded this scholarship.

3. The requirements for eligibility are almost the same for foreign applicants as they are for Irish citizens, with one notable difference: Irish nationals are eligible to apply from anywhere as long as they fulfil the residency requirements, while international applicants are limited to applying if they plan to study at an authorised Irish university.

4. Applicants cannot have submitted two rejected applications in a row.

5. Candidates for a research master’s degree cannot have held or be holding a Council Postgraduate Scholarship at the time of application.

6. Applicants for a Ph.D. scholarship must not be in the process of receiving or have received these scholarships in the past, and they must have earned an undergraduate degree with honours in first class.

7. You must have lived abroad for a minimum of three years before applying if you do not hold Swiss, EU, or EEA citizenship. You do not have to fulfil these criteria if you are a citizen of one of these nations.

8. Candidates who are still pursuing their undergraduate or graduate degrees must be enrolled full-time, in their final year of study, or fewer than six months away from graduation.
