What are the International English Scholarships?

Eligibility Criteria for the International English Scholarships
The major requirement is for applicants to come from any of the seven (7) countries mentioned above. The second most important criterion is to apply for an eligible program at the University of Ottawa. The program must be delivered in English.
Other criteria for consideration include:
- Must be enrolled in a full-time study for any of the eligible programs.
- Must be newly admitted in the Fall 2024 term in one of the eligible undergraduate programs offered in the English language.
- You must have a valid study permit by the time the program starts.
- You must not enroll or have enrolled in the French immersion stream.

What’s the Value of the Awards?
The International English Scholarships from the University of Ottawa may vary by amount, depending on the following factors:
- The country of origin of the students/applicants.
- The faculties the eligible programs fall under.
Students from Africa, Bangladesh, and India
The awards are distributed by faculties for students from these countries and vary. For the number, only 20 persons are picked for the Excellence scholarship provided they have an admission average of 90% or higher. There’s an unlimited number of students for the Entrance scholarship.
The value of the Entrance scholarship is $40,000 over 4 years, which is distributed at the rate of $10,000 per year.
For the Excellence scholarship, applicants to the Faculties of Health Sciences, Social Sciences, and Science receive $70,000 spread over 4 years at the rate of $17,500 per year. For the Faculty of Engineering, the value is $100,000 ($25,000 yearly for 4 years), while that of the Telfer School of Management is $80,000 ($20,000 across 4 years).
Students from China and South Korea
Only the Excellence scholarship is offered to these students. Twenty (20) students are picked, on the condition of having an admission average of 90% or higher.
The award is valued at $20,000 over 4 years. It’s distributed at $5,000 yearly for the Faculties of Social Sciences, Health Sciences and Science. The value of the Telfer School of Management is $40,000 over 4 years (distributed at $10,000 yearly). In the Faculty of Engineering. it is $60,000 (distributed at $15,000 yearly).

Students from Indonesia and Vietnam
An unlimited number of students are accepted into the Entrance scholarship while only 5 are allowed to get the Excellence scholarship.
The value of the Entrance scholarship is $20,000 over 4 years across the Faculties of:
- Social Sciences
- Science
- Health Sciences and;
- Telfer School of Management
The value is $40,000 over 4 years for the Faculty of Engineering.
Keeping the Scholarship Running: What You Must Do
While the International English Scholarships are offered at the point of admission into eligible programs offered at uOttawa, learning how to keep the awards running for four (4) straight years is important.
For the International English Entrance Scholarship
Students from the other five countries other than China and South Korea must aim to have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0 or higher at the end of each academic year. The other criterion is maintaining a full-time enrollment in the undergraduate program in which the student was admitted, enrolled, and offered the scholarship.
For the International English Excellence Scholarship
Students from China and South Korea must remain in full-time enrollment in the eligible undergraduate program in which the admission was offered and they were enrolled at the time of getting the International English Excellence Scholarship. They must also aim to have a CGPA of 8.0 or higher at the end of each academic year.
