3. Gather all the required documents
Before beginning your online application, gather all the paperwork needed for your permit. The Canadian government states that the following as requirements:
· the original or digital copy of the DLI acceptance letter you received
· identification verification (a current passport or other travel document plus two passport-sized pictures);
· evidence of finances proving you can sustain yourself during your studies (at least $10,000 CAD per year of study, or sufficient to cover living expenses and tuition fees);
· A letter of explanation stating your intent to study in Canada and confirming that you are aware of your obligations as a foreign student;
· if you intend to study in Quebec, a Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ)
· A Custodian Declaration, in the event that you are a minor
· The acknowledgement of receipt for the $150 CAD study permit payment.
4. Start your application
Once you have all the required paperwork, such as your DLI admission letter, you can begin the online study permit application process. You must:
· Read the instruction manual to ensure you are familiar with the stages in the application process;
· In order to pay your fees, submit your application, and check your status, create an online account and log in;
· Provide your complete personal information (name, address, education, and history) on the online forms.
· Upload the necessary files (identification, proof of finances, acceptance letter, letter of explanation, and others);
· At the conclusion of the application, pay your fees;
· Check the status of your application frequently for any modifications or additional requests.
